Birmingham BMX Club are working together with British Cycling during these recent times, below is a statment from the British Cycling website

British Cycling is closely assessing the developing situation with regards to Coronavirus/COVID19.

Current Government guidance indicates that sporting events can go ahead, and at present, all forthcoming events delivered by British Cycling are scheduled to go ahead as planned.

Cancelling or postponing events will always be a last resort, however we will continue to closely follow Government advice, while also consulting with event organisers, teams, riders and officials to ensure that we are following best practice with regards to public health, which remains our highest priority.

We are liaising with the UCI regarding the forthcoming UCI BMX Supercross World Cup in Manchester on April 18 and 19, and we are in continuing dialogue with organisers of events across the country, and fully respect decisions that have been taken with regards to other events.

Bike races are the lifeblood of our sport, and while public health is at the very forefront of our minds, we will be working to ensure that, where appropriate and consistent with Government advice, our sport can still function with as full a racing calendar as possible.

We will continue to update our membership on a regular basis, but we would urge people to consult the up-to-the-minute Government advice - see below.

 General Coronavirus/COVID19 information

You will have read or heard in the media about Coronavirus/COVID19.

If you are worried about participating in, the running of or officiating at a British Cycling event, ride or club activity, please consult the latest government advice:

UK Government

Scottish Government

Welsh Government

NHS England

NHS Inform

Public Health Wales

As you would expect, British Cycling is following the guidance given to us by government and the public health authorities.  We will continue to update you as soon as we receive further information.

We know people may be nervous about staying active at the moment, but being fit and healthy is an important deterrent to the risk of any infection in the first place.

As long as you follow all the relevant advice on how to avoid catching or spreading the virus, we would still encourage you to look after your health by getting active and getting out on a bike.
